Lima, the capital of Peru, is the world’s second largest desert capital after Cairo. The area gets exceptionally little rain, but has incredibly high atmospheric humidity.
In 2013, Peru’s University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC) created an innovative billboard design. The purpose of the billboard was two-fold: to boost admissions to the engineering program and to capture humidity from the air to produce drinking water. The billboard alone can yield up to 100 liters of water a day.
